They are true to size. Frye boots tend to run 1/2 size larger - these don't.
I have gotten lots of compliments on the Julia's. The leather is medium thick, but still soft. The heel height is acceptable. I can walk in these for a while, but not an awful lot.
They are made for rather thin and long feet and legs. These are the tallest boots I've ever seen. I am 5'5" and they come all the way up to right under the knee. If I were just a couple inches shorter, they wouldn't work.
They go well with leggings and shorts, if you're looking to dress up a punk/gothic outfit. But I find they are quite on the dressy side.
Some people complain that they have a side zipper; I find that feature very helpful, I definitely profit from not spending extra time untying a bunch of laces every time I put them on or take them off.
