These Old Gringo boots are beautiful and comfortable. I wore them two days in a row right after getting them out of the box without any issues which is rare for boots. The workmanship on these is wonderful and attention to detail is outstanding. I was somewhat worried about the extra top height but it is great and they fit perfectly around my calf. I will say that they seem to be a bit bigger that my other pairs of Old Gringos, just enough that I have to wear a heavier sock. But overall I love them and will be buying more styles!

I am a true Donald J Pliner boot fan. I own the Rezi, Bark, Daria, and this Gita in both the expresso and black colors. It has been my experience that DJP runs true to size. I have a slightly narrow foot and can always wear my exact size. With this Gita boot I ordered a size up (10) to be able to wear with really thick socks, boot is a little large with socks. I will keep and add gel inserts. I often need to add inserts to my shoes just do to my lack of arch etc. These boots are exactly what I've been searching for. I have worn them with shorts and look forward to wearing with skinny jeans. I think they will even look nice with a smock dress. This boot is really well made and designed. I love the adjustable laces although the tongue is connected. At the bend in the ankle the laces are set farther apart to allow for easy walking with the flex in foot. I can not say enough about these boots, I will continue to purchase boots from DJP. Note, the only bootie I have to compare is my Vince Camuto, Suni style which I also love for different reasons.

I have been looking for knee-high boots to go over my very athletic calves for FOREVER. These are amazing. Not only do they fit properly, but they look amazing, too. So many times when you look for wide calf boots, if you can find them, they are either so wide they just look stupid OR you just can't find anything in between 16" around and 19" around. These boots are exactly as described and are extremely comfortable. I have worn them every day since I received them. I can tuck jeans into them and they still zip; I can wear them with leggings and they don't look silly; and I also wear them with skirts and casual dresses...very versatile.

The boots looked exactly like what I was looking for, and everyone is always complementing them. They were squeaky whenever I first got them, but, after wearing them in, that went away. Lucchese Classics Women's M5711 Boot,Autumn Dry Leaf,9.5 B (M) US Review

In the last six years, I have bought (and sold) more Lucchese boots than I can remember. The majority of them have been 1883''s and maybe five pairs of Classics.
Never once was I not able to put their size 8.5 boot on, and, not be able to wear them out the door, and for the rest of the day. They have never needed to be broken in!
This was a great price for this boot, but they were only available in wide sizes.
I bought a 8.5 C, having just purchase, recently, one of the new "Since 1883, M series and, and surprisingly,and, finding them too tight.

The 8.5 in this style was too long. The exaggerated toe was comically exagerated.
In terms of width, this "wide" didn't seem any wider, than the standard 8.5 B, at all.
So, I returned them and got the 8C, which I got today.

They are so small! There is no way this boot can be one half size down from the 8.5C. I expected to have to fight to get through the ankle, because they are very fitted in that area, but there is absolutely no way the foot of this boot can be called wide. There is absolutely nothing WIDE about this boot. In fact it isn't even as wide as all of the B width Lucchese I have bought.

This does not bode well for the future.
There have been some big changes at Lucchese, and I'm afraid this could be the result of that. What you are not reading, anymore, when you read a description of the Lucchese boot craft, philosophy and fit, is that they are no longer being made in ElPaso, Texas. They are now being made in Mexico.

The inside leather lining is no longer that beautiful vanilla color, with the words Lucchese written on the inside in large script. Now, it is dark brown, and all you see printed inside is the size and the style number. In the tiniest letters you could possibly print, are the words: Made in Mexico.

They have discontinued their wildly popular 1883 line, which was slightly less expensive(not in all styles, granted),than the Classic line.

Now the line called "Since !883" is the priced higher than the old 1883's, and the Classic are higher than the old Classics line.

So, they are not being made in the United States anymore, but, they are MORE expensive.

These boots look absolutely gorgeous, and once you figure out what size you wear in them, and if you can still afford them, they will be great.From my experience with this model, I recommend ordering your normal size, but in wide width. Unless, like me , you don't mind spending three days wetting your boots, and trying to stretch them, as you wear them.

I think it's really sleazy of the company to not make any mention of change of country of origin, in the description they give to their retailers online.(and I'm not talking about discounters, like eBay) I mean very well known, Texas boot sellers like Cavenders, Sheplers, and Allen's Boots.

I don't think the company should be ashamed to tell their customers that their boots are being made in Mexico. That country has a great history of boot making. If they're switching to any country, that should be the one.

All I can say is, "What would Sam Lucchese say?"
