I love these boots! They are so cute on me. Usually, I have a problem with the top part of the boot being too big for my calves (there is usually too much space between the top of the boot and my calf); however, the top of this boot isn't too big for my calves (and I have really skinny calves....size 14.5" circumference in jeans (& the inside circumference of the boot is about 15"...I ordered size 9.5)). BUT, the big, HUGE problem that I have with these boots are that the back heel portion of the boot is made out of plastic, HARD plastic! The foot bed is padded, but there is no padding whatsoever at the heel. My heel rubs against the plastic, and it is SO uncomfortable. So, to fix the problem, I decided to buy some padded shoe inserts, place them against the heel portion of the boot, and hot glue them to the boot. It worked! Except for one little problem...now the boots are just slightly too small for my feet. Well, I bought two pairs of these (one in brown & one in black). I can't return the brown because I glued the padding to the back of the heel. But, I will be returning the black and ordering the next size up. I usually wear a size 9 or 9.5 in boots, but because of my homemade-fix, I'm going to have to reorder these in a size 10. So, if you decide to order these and you want to mod your boots like I did, I would suggest ordering at least 1 size bigger than what you normally wear.

I bought these after receiving a different pair of Blondo boots in the mail (http://www.amazon.com/Blondo-Womens-Malak-Shearling-Shakybuck/dp/B0026MRRJ2/) and confirming the 8 WW fit okay (I wear a 7.5-8 WW in general, though to use 7.5 it had better be very wide). It was because I wanted a different color of boot in a different style, not because those other boots weren't good.

This book, I think, aims to be a hybrid of a dress boot and a snow boot. As expected, it is not perfect at either, but since practical boots and extra-wide boots are individually hard to find I might have given this five stars - but for one thing. The insole is utterly flat and after walking ten minutes my feet ached. There wasn't enough height in the toe box for a full insert, so I added some 3/4-length inserts from Dr. Scholl's; that took care of most of the problem though the ball of my wider foot still isn't as happy as it could be.

Otherwise: these are sleek and lightweight, nice enough to wear with dressy clothes. They have mediocre traction for a snow boot, but much better than any dress boot I've ever worn. They seem to be waterproof and are surprisingly warm given their lightness. With a temperature in the low teens, and wearing medium weight socks, my toes only began to get chilly after about 15 minutes walking outdoors.

In short, if you don't mind adding arch support and don't need to be outside in very cold temperatures for a long time, and you're looking for dressy boots that aren't a recipe for falling on your keister, these are good.

Theses boots run true to size. The leather is buttery soft and the back of the boot has a playful insert- I got the brown boots so mine is purple. I do wish the shoe was padded but I just put some Duane Reade gel inserts in and they feel fine. I paid about 80 something for my boots and I think they are worth it. I would not have payed over $150 for them and definately not $300.
