These boots didn't say that they were wide calf, but they do have enough room for about a 17 inch calf. I did have to add a buckle to the top to let the stretch in the back do its job. I bought these in a 7 since another pair I bought in an 8 fit loose. These are very true to size. I don't wear thick socks so they work perfect. If you want more room go up a size. They do have a smell when they arrive, but that will go away with a few wears and the box is no good when it arrives due to the long travel. I would have given them a 5 star if the smell and the buckle allowed more room.
